Conscious Transition

Between one activity and another, the mind tends to drag remnants of the previous task. A conscious transition closes one cycle before opening the next.

How to practice

  1. 1

When you finish an activity, pause before starting the next one.

  2. 2

Notice how you feel and what is left pending.

  3. 3

Write a word or note what remains for later, if needed.

  4. 4

Take one breath and start the next task with intention.

When to use

Between work and home, meetings, meals, and any change of context during the day.

Tip

The transition can be as short as one breath. The gesture of closing and opening is what matters.

What this practice offers

  • Less mental residue between tasks.
  • More intentional beginnings.
  • A sense of completeness at the end of the day.
