Inner Tide Breathing
A practice to feel the natural rhythm of your body like the movement of the tide, without hurry, without effort. Simply observe the flow that already exists within you.
How to practice
- 1
Find a comfortable position, sitting or lying down. Close your eyes and place one hand on your belly, feeling the warmth and contact.
- 2
Begin by simply observing your breath as it is, without trying to change anything. Notice the air coming in and the air going out, like waves that arrive and recede.
- 3
Now, bring your attention to the natural pause at the end of the exhale. Stay with this pause for a moment, like the instant when the sea falls silent before the next wave.
- 4
On the next inhale, imagine you are receiving the freshness of the sea breeze. Feel the air filling your body softly and completely.
- 5
As you exhale, let the air leave slowly, like water returning to the ocean. Release any tension you notice, without forcing.
- 6
Continue in this rhythm for a few minutes, following the tide of your breath. When you are ready, move your fingers and toes, and open your eyes slowly.
When to use
Use when you need to slow down, feel restless, or want to reconnect with your body's natural rhythm.
Tip
If your mind wanders, don't worry. Gently bring your attention back to the sensation of the breath flowing in and out.
