Gentle Breeze Breathing
A simple practice to soothe your inner rhythm, breathing in and out like a passing breeze. An invitation to feel the air as a gentle touch.
How to practice
- 1
Find a comfortable position, sitting or lying down. Close your eyes and bring your attention to the weight of your body on the floor or chair.
- 2
Observe your natural breath for a few cycles, without rushing to change anything. Simply notice the air entering and leaving.
- 3
Now, begin to gently lengthen your exhale, as if releasing a silent sigh. Let the out-breath be a little longer than the in-breath.
- 4
On the next inhale, imagine the air is a cool breeze softly touching your nose. Feel the temperature and texture of the air.
- 5
Continue in this rhythm: inhale as one who receives, exhale as one who lets go. With each exhale, allow your shoulders and jaw to relax a little more.
- 6
Stay in this flow for a few minutes. When you feel it's time, gradually bring your attention back to the sounds around you and gently move your fingers and toes.
When to use
Use in moments of mental agitation, before a difficult meeting, or when you need to slow down and return to your body.
Tip
If your mind wanders, don't worry. Simply notice and gently return to the rhythm of your breath.
