Presence of Touch in Water
An invitation to slow down through contact with water. When washing your hands or face, you can turn an ordinary gesture into a moment of presence and care.
How to practice
- 1
Turn on the tap and let the water run. Before touching it, simply observe the sound and movement of the water for a few moments.
- 2
Place your hands under the water and feel the temperature. Notice if it's cold, warm, or cool, without needing to change anything.
- 3
Notice the texture of the water running between your fingers, palms, and wrists. Let each drop be felt.
- 4
If you'd like, close your eyes and continue feeling only the contact of water with your skin, with no rush to finish.
- 5
When you turn off the tap, stay for a moment with your hands still wet, feeling the freshness that remains.
- 6
Before moving on, take one deep breath and carry this feeling of contact with you into the next moment.
When to use
During transitions in the day, such as arriving home, before a meeting, or when you feel your mind racing.
Tip
If you're somewhere without a tap, you can do the same with a cup of water or while washing a piece of food.
