Presence of the Hands

An invitation to return to the present moment through the touch and perception of your hands. A simple pause to feel what is already here.

How to practice

  1. 1

Sit comfortably and rest your hands on your thighs or on a surface in front of you. Close your eyes if that feels comfortable.

  2. 2

Bring your attention to your palms. Feel the temperature of the air or the fabric against your skin, without rushing.

  3. 3

Slowly move your fingers, as if touching an invisible surface. Notice the small joints and the texture of your skin.

  4. 4

Bring one hand to the center of your chest and let it rest there. Feel the warmth of your palm and the gentle rhythm of your breath beneath your touch.

  5. 5

Stay for a few moments, simply feeling your hand on your chest and the presence of your body. When you are ready, release your hand and slowly open your eyes.

When to use

Use when you feel scattered, anxious, or disconnected from your body, at any time of day.

Tip

If your mind wanders, don't worry. Gently bring your focus back to the sensation of your hands, without judgment.
