Rocking with Imagined Rain
An invitation to lie down and let the imagination of a gentle rain cradle the body toward rest. Nothing needs to happen — just listen from within.
How to practice
- 1
Lie on your back or on your side, in whatever way your body already knows as comfortable. Let your arms rest without effort and close your eyes whenever you like.
- 2
Imagine, very slowly, a fine rain beginning to fall on a distant roof. You don't need to see anything — just suggest the sound of the first drops meeting the tiles.
- 3
Little by little, let this rain come closer. Feel its rhythm like a light tapping, unhurried, and allow each imagined drop to invite your shoulders to sink a little lower.
- 4
If a thought arrives, let it pass like someone crossing the street in the rain and moving on. Return to the sound of the drops, whenever you like.
- 5
Finally, let the rain drift further away, almost a whisper. Stay only with the feeling of being warm, dry, and cradled from within.
When to use
On nights when the mind is still restless and the body asks for a slower rhythm before sleep.
Tip
If the imagined rain doesn't come, that's okay — just listen to the softest sound nearby, inside or outside of you.
