The Forest Does Not Correct Your Step

A rhythm that does not belong

I arrived at the woods carrying a rhythm that was not hers.

It was not the path, nor the leaves, nor the wind among the trees.

It was the rhythm with which we enter almost everything today: fast, decisive, full of the intention to arrive.

The woods, however, are in no hurry. They keep a different time.

What the woods give back

When attention finally returns, the body slows down. Not because the woods asked, but because they invite. Each step becomes a simple act: step, breathe, observe.

I realized that attention has its own rhythm. It does not expand under pressure; it deepens when allowed. Too fast, it stays shallow. Slowly, it takes shape.

A small practice

You do not need a week-long retreat. Three minutes are enough:

  1. Step outside without your phone.
  2. Stay where you are: look up, listen to the sounds around you, feel the air.
  3. Let the environment touch you before you try to understand it.

The woods do not change what is around you. They give back what you were running too fast to see.

And sometimes that is enough.
